John & Sharon Headshot   ASELSI Newsletter
Rainy season has begun in Chichicastenango and we are busy hosting teams.  Even so, we wanted to take a moment from our schedule and praise God for His faithfulness to our ministry.  We are excited to be able to share with you some of the highlights of the spring and we hope you will join us in prayer as we give thanks and celebrate what the Lord is doing in Guatemala and Central America.

In His Grace,

John and Sharon

The Foundation is Complete

John shows the new foundation to a visiting team.  Now that Phase 1 is complete we are looking ahead to the next Phase.  Phase 2 will cost $26,000 and will be the "caja" as they say here. It is the outside walls. We are praying for God to provide the resources needed to complete this Phase this summer. The building construction will have 5 phases in all. We are really looking forward to moving to the new clinic as we cannot hold all that we do in our current facility. Please pray about how you can help! Tax deductible offerings for the construction can be sent to Christian Fellowship Church, 4600 Christian Fellowship Rd, Columbia, MO 65203. Mark in the check memo - Guatemala clinic construction.

John at Conference

John Welcomes Pastors
John joyfully welcomes ASELSI graduates to the annual Alumni Association Meeing in May.  About fifty pastors traveled to Chichicastenango where the  alumni were honored.  ILIO graduates reunited with other graduates from their classes and shared testimonies of what God is doing in their lives and their churches.
Phillip & John with books
Books Given to Pastors

Pastor Phillip Jackson from World Outreach Church in Murfreesboro, Tennessee was the guest speaker at the April Conference.  He and John are presenting the pastors with free copies of Derek Prince's "The Attonement" in Spanish.

New Addition

The New Guest Rooms
The second-story addition over the bodega is almost complete and should be ready for occupancy in July!  The new addition will have a working kitchen, a lounge or meeting room (with a fireplace), two dorm rooms with bunk beds and a seperate bedroom for couples.
Young Boy's Life Saved

During a recent home visit, a visiting team learned that one of the children (Emmanuel) had burned both hands and arms in a pot of boiling water.  The family had no money to take him for treatment.  Seeing the condition of the burns the team immediately took the boy to the hospital and sponsored the skin-graft surgery that was needed to save his live.  Once again, the Lord has used visiting teams to impact the lives of the people in Chichicastenango.  Once the grafts are healed ASELSI will begin physical therapy on young Emmanuel.

Just a reminder that as you send your tax-deductible regular offerings to Christian Fellowship Church, please be sure to mark in the memo - "Guatemala A". We now have another missionary working with us who also receives her support through Christian Fellowship so the A will show that it is for ASELSI. Other gifts that are designated to a special project or ministry may be marked with that designation, such as "Guatemala Milk Program". Thank you for making the extra effort to do this.

Thank you for your prayers and support of our ministry.

Sincerely,

John & Sharon Harvey
