In 2011 Jessica Gormley de Pérez began a learning center for children with special needs called "Jesus' Little Lambs Center". We had discovered that out of our Physical Motor Assistance Program (CAF); only about 10% of the children with special needs were going to school. Currently we have classes once a week for about 24 children. They are broken into small groups so that we can teach them in an intimate setting. We currently have 5 teachers: 4 Guatemalans and 3 missionaries. We give thanks to God for his provision for Jesus' Little Lambs Center. As of March 2012, we have a new building, complete with 3 classrooms! We also have an adaptive playground finished by volunteers in the summer of 2013. The center offers classes from January through October. Our goal is that each child comes to know Jesus Christ as his or her best friend and Savior.
Currently, Sally Widbin is the director of the Center. Sally, who holds a Masters of Art in Teaching from Northwestern University, has 30 years of experience teaching elementary school, and 6 years of experience training future teachers while doing research with experienced teachers.
